Reason #1 for Giving to PSR – the Tax Deduction and Much More...

PSR is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization established in 1979. Our mission is to promote social responsibility by protecting health, the environment and communities through education, training, direct service, and advocacy. We welcome your contribution in order to receive a 2016 tax deduction, but there is a better reason to give to PSR.

A tax deduction is practical. It means, for example that if you give $1000 to PSR before December 31, 2016 and you are in the 25% tax bracket, a $1,000 tax deduction saves you $250 in tax (0.25 x $1,000 = $250). But for PSR it means that you have chosen to support physicians who have taken an oath, which in part includes, in modern translation…First do no harm. While healthcare offers treatment and hope for patients to be well and lead a healthier life, they often treat the symptoms of disease and not the cause.

Physicians also want to prevent disease and reduce the risk of suffering. Here at PSR, physicians and health care professionals volunteer, and have made a decision that their time spent on environmental justice may be the one altruistic relic of society that will prevent illness and disease.

The tax deduction is nice at the end of our year, but prevention is nice for a lifetime.
