Community town hall held on wastewater fracking treatment plant in Susquehanna County

Hawley, Pennsylvania

Action Together NEPA along with Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania held a town hall in one Wayne County borough Sunday.

At issue is the proposed wastewater fracking treatment plant near Burdick Creek in Susquehanna County and its potential impacts on neighboring farms and area residents.

FOX56 Photojournalist Bill Lewis was at the forum at the Settlers Inn in Hawley to hear what a few had to say including Tammy Murphy - the Advocacy Director for Physicians for Social Responsibility, Tonyehn Verkitus - Executive Director for Physicians for Social Responsibility, Kristin Volchanski - Advocacy Organizer for Action Together NEPA and Eddie Day Pashinski - State Representative District 121.

We're told the group Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania are looking for residents in Susquehanna County to participate in a citizen's science air quality study as a way to further protect access to clean air and water throughout northeast PA.
