Physicians for Social Responsibility - Pennsylvania (PSR-PA) and Earth Quaker Action Team (EQAT) would like to officially welcome you to the conference. Ryan Leitner Ryan Leitner is an organizer, trainer, and leadership coach for activists based in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. As the campaign organizer for Earth Quaker Action Team, they are campaigning to create local jobs, address climate change, and increase solar in the region by pressuring PECO, the local utility, to take action. Walter Tsou, MD, MPH Walter Tsou, MD, MPH is the Executive Director of PSR PA. He is a former Health Commissioner of Philadelphia and Past President of the American Public Health Association.

Solar in Philadelphia Laura Rigell, Philadelphia Energy Authority Personal experience in the solar field NaDerah Griffin, M.Ed, MS Forensic Medicine Energy efficiency and workforce development programs at ECA in Philadelphia Walt Yakabosky, Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) Laura Rigell Laura Rigell has led the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA)'s solar efforts since 2017. She developed and implemented the nation's largest Solarize campaign, which helped build a residential solar market in Philadelphia. Laura's work prioritizes equity, creating new vehicles to support solar for low- and moderate-income households citywide, and starting Pennsylvania’s first vocational high school solar program, Bright Solar Futures. Outside of PEA, Laura is active with Serenity Soular, a grassroots initiative designed to drive equitable solar jobs and installations in North Philadelphia. Laura has a BA from Swarthmore College and a Masters of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. NaDerah Griffin, M.Ed, MS Forensic Medicine NaDerah Griffin is a native of Philadelphia. Ms. Griffin enjoys spending time with her family. She spends most days volunteering in the Urban Communities, helping others. Ms. Griffin has a passion for providing support for people who are less fortunate, especially for brown males of all ages to cope with their trauma. In addition, Ms. Griffin enjoys empowering brown females, of all ages to be whatever they want to be and to love self. Ms. Griffin is an inspirational speaker, as well as a math and reading instructor. She taught for the School District of Philadelphia. Ms. Griffin also served as the Solar Project Manager and Instructor for the Bright Solar Futures Program, and is a board member at Serenity Soular. Walt Yakabosky Mr. Yakabosky spent 19 years in the private sector in sales and senior management. In 1999 he accepted a position as Dean for Technical Education at Delaware County Community College. He received several awards and citations for his efforts in supporting economic development through education including the Governor’s Award for best practices in developing a 2+2+2 career pathways model. Currently, he is the Director of Training at ECA’s John S. and James L. Knight Green Jobs Training Center located in Kensington and is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum and courses related to energy conservation and Green Jobs development.

A former U.S. Senate legislative aide and writer, researcher and trainer at the White House Conference on Small Business in the Clinton administration, Rabb is a thought leader at the intersection of politics, media entrepreneurship and social identity. Daniel Aldana Cohen, Ph.D. Daniel Aldana Cohen is Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he directs the Socio-Spatial Climate Collaborative, or (SC)2. In 2018-19, he was a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. He is the co-author of A Planet to Win: Why We Need a Green Deal (Verso 2019). He led the research for the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act introduced in Congress by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez. His research and writing have appeared in Nature, Public Culture, The International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, The Guardian, The Nation, Jacobin, and elsewhere. Liz Robinson Liz is currently the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association (PSEA), a local nonprofit dedicated to expanding solar energy across the state. Prior to coming to PSEA, Liz founded and directed the Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) for more than 30 years. ECA provides energy efficiency, education, workforce development, home repair and bill payment assistance services to thousands of low income households every year. Liz also co-founded and directed the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (KEEA) Pennsylvania’s energy efficiency trade association. She also managed the Energy Cooperative Association (ECAP), expanding it to a regional organization and taking it into the renewable energy market. Valerie Arkoosh, MD, MPH Commissioner Valerie Arkoosh is a parent of three, physician, health policy expert, and community leader who, on January 28, 2015, was chosen unanimously by the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to fill a vacancy on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. She was elected to a full four-year term in November 2015 and was elected unanimously as Commission Chair on November 17, 2016. Arkoosh is a longtime resident of Montgomery County who has been engaged in public health policy development across all levels of government. She is a nationally-recognized public health policy expert. Until recently, she was Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. She sought the Democratic nomination in 2014 for the 13th Congressional District seat.

For the past 20 years, she has served as a key spokesperson for children’s vulnerabilities and the need for their protection, conducting presentations and lectures across the country. She is a leader in the field of children’s environmental health, serving as a past member of the NIH Council of Councils and the Science Advisory Board for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ms. Witherspoon serves on the External Science Board for the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) NIH Research work and is a Co-Leader for the Science/Health initiative of the Cancer Free Economy Network. Ms. Witherspoon is also a Board member for the Pesticide Action Network of North America, the Environmental Integrity Project, and serves on the Maryland Children’s Environmental Health Advisory Council. Tyra Bryant-Stephens, MD Tyra Bryant-Stephens is a board-certified pediatrician in clinical practice for over 30 years in Philadelphia. In 1997 she founded the Community Asthma Prevention Program (CAPP) of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), a community-based asthma program that seeks to reduce asthma disparities through community-engaged interventions. She has sustained CAPP for 23 years and led numerous studies/projects to help improve asthma outcomes for low-income minority children using community participatory research methodology. She leads the CAPP Collaborative, consisting of partners throughout the city, which is in its twelfth year of hosting the annual conference Fighting Asthma Disparities attended by local, state and national stakeholders. Dr Bryant-Stephens has served on numerous local, state and national committees. She is a founding member of the Pennsylvania Asthma Partnership where she served as chair of the Executive Committee. She also served on the Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee, a federal advisory committee for the US Environmental Protection Agency for 6 years. Currently she serves on the Philadelphia Board of Health. Her research has been funded for over 20 years and currently she leads a U01 National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute study which is intended to connect home, school, community and health care through a patient-centered randomized control trial. She and her husband, Dr. Paul Stephens Jr, are blessed with two daughters and three exciting grandchildren. Walter Tsou, MD, MPH Walter Tsou, MD, MPH is the Executive Director of PSR PA. He is a former Health Commissioner of Philadelphia and Past President of the American Public Health Association.

Tee Guidotti, MD, MPH, Former Chair, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, George Washington University Dr. Tee L. Guidotti is currently an international consultant based in the Washington DC area and Canada. He retired as Professor and chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the George Washington University. Prior to that, he was a professor at the University of Alberta, where he became deeply involved in energy-related issues and started Canada's first approved training program in occupational medicine. He trained in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and occupational medicine, all at Johns Hopkins. In 2015, he was a Fulbright Visiting Research Professor in the Institute for Science, Society and Policy at the University of Ottawa.

Joline Price and Josie Pickens from Community Legal Services of Philadelphia give attendees an energy affordability lens with which they can reflect on the presentations that they've viewed (and the future conversations they'll have) around clean energy. Joline Price As a Supervising Attorney in the Energy Unit at Community Legal Services, Joline Price represents low-income Philadelphians struggling to access and afford gas, electric and water service. In addition to individual representation, she also does systemic advocacy and community education on utility access and affordability. Joline previously worked as a staff attorney at the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project, focusing on bill affordability and access to water, gas and electric service across the Commonwealth. Ms. Price also worked as an attorney at the Pennsylvania Health Law Project focusing on access to publicly funded health insurance and medical services. Pickens is a Supervising Attorney and Co-Director of the Energy Unit at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS).
