PSR PA is excited to share the launch of Protest as Play, a new creative series exploring how communities resist creatively, playfully, and defiantly in a time when health, safety, and futures are contested. It questions what it means to imagine or enact liberation in the face of systems designed to exhaust or erase people and places, revealing what resilience looks like when it is rooted in community, memory, and the refusal to be silent.

Over the past few months, we commissioned five artists to create original works responding to this prompt. Their pieces form the foundation of a growing collection that will soon expand to a broader call for community submissions.

We invited artists to respond to themes such as:

  • Health as a site of struggle and liberation

  • Radical, joyful, humorous, or intergenerational forms of resilience or resistance

  • Collective care in the face of political and environmental harm

  • Humor and play as strategies for defiance and community strength

We’re thrilled to introduce each of the commissioned artists and share their creative responses. These works reflect the imagination, clarity, and courage of artists responding to environmental injustice and community resilience.

Stay tuned as we open the next phase of Protest as Play: Creative Resistance for Collective Good, inviting community members to contribute their own creative responses.
