Kandia’s paired acrylic works honor the enduring presence of matriarchs and protective feminine figures. As Is / As Was reflects how the essence of matriarchs transcends time and space.

Roots depicts a maternal figure watching over children playing Double Dutch — a tribute to neighborhood matriarchs who sustain and protect their communities.

Through these pieces, Kandia explores intergenerational memory, protection, and the shared resilience between people and nature.
